Young Brides
Recently, someone brought of the topic of girls wearing white to proms-- was it acceptable? Or did they just look like they were wearing bridal wear?
So I decided to look back through some of my old dance photos and I discovered I am guilty of wearing white to a dance. Not once, not twice-- but three times. I am what you would call a repeat offender.
With the magic of our new(er) printer/scanner/copier, let's take a look at my awkward teenage years offenses:
Exhibit A: Eight Grade Dance- June 1995
A white cocktail length dress with a sweetheart neckline complete with three buttons down the chest and I'm wearing white pumps that kind of look like they came off of a Barbie Doll.
Confession: I still have this dress. Don't judge me.
Exhibit B: Senior Prom- May 1998
I loved this dress so much. I planned on wearing it when I married my first boyfriend (pictured above)- however he broke up with me two weeks before this picture was taken. Talk about an awkward prom. Anyway, the dress had a chiffon skirt and the bodice was chiffon with a lace overlay and three rosebuds at the base of each spaghetti strap. I felt like a princess.Exhibit C: Senior Prom- May 1999
Originally I was going to wear the dress from Exhibit B to my Senior Prom, but according to my mother, that last one had "bad memories" connected to it. Instead of voodoo rituals to cleanse the "bad memories", we opted for another dress- a silk A-line with embroidery at the top. Looking back, it's very bridesmaids-y.
this is too funny, bc just the other day i was reminiscing about how i WANTED to wear white to prom but the dear mother wouldnt allow it bc it was too bridal! great pics though... i wish my scanner still worked :(
speaking of prom dresses though, i just got word that my little cousin might cut down one of my prom dresses and wear it to my wedding. i am so freaking excited... is that weird?! haha :)
Whats with the long face in Exhibit C?
I wore an off white dress to my prom. I actually had a black dress bought 6 months before and when I went to try it on, I couldn't zip it up! So we had to race out to find another and that was what I ended up with.
