Friday Confessional

Forgive me blogworld, for I have sinned.

It has been.. well, too damn long since my last blog.  Have you noticed that I post twice a month?  The beginning to post Hunter's monthly photo and the end to talk about the fabulous events that I didn't blog about of the month.

I got a text from my pal Shannaigans yesterday to make sure I was still alive.  That's when it hit me: I have been pretty much non-existant on the interwebs.  I can't even tell you the last time I logged into Pinterest!  I haven't commented on other blogs, I have unanswered e-mails and I couldn't even tell you the last time I read a status update from that girl I barely talked to in high school but am now Facebook friends.

Here are my reasons for being an absentee blogger:

This working mom stuff is damn hard.
I am currently planning a bridal shower and Hunter's baptism.
I have discovered Downton Abbey.

Ok, so the big reason is Downton Abbey.  I'm addicted to it.  Any time I have 48 minutes to myself (aka pumping at work) I hunt down an episode online .  Ugh.. Matthew Crawley, I will marry you, even if you are only a middle class solicitor who lives with his mother.  Noms.

But I vow to be a better blogger.  I have a lot of events that I want to talk about, including a fabulous blogger get together, painting my kitchen and dying my couch slipcovers!

...right after I take Hunter's monthly photo.  And post about the fabulous events of the month.  Tee hee.

Always & Forever,
  ME

P.S... this is my 400th post.  What a LAME way to celebrate.

Hunter: 6 Months

Time travels faster when you are a parent.  I'm not sure of the specifics, but there is some kind of time-quantum- warp-speed-thing that happens.  In the blink of an eye, six months have passed.

First thing we need to discuss is the size of this child.  At his six month well-visit he weighed 17 lbs 4 oz, which is in the 50th percentile.  His height was 29 1/4 inches, which is also the 50th percentile-- but for a 12 month old.

Let's give that a minute to sink in.

My six-month-old child is the average size of a one-year-old.  He is literally off the charts.  Seriously, what happened to that little peanut I gave birth to?

Anyway, Bubface, you  turned six months last week.  In your fifth month you:

*rolled over from stomach to belly and back again.  And that was it.  It was like you checked it off your To Do list, and have no interest in doing it again.

*blow raspberries all the time.  And it's the cutest damn thing.

*are totally a boy and like to play rough.  You are happiest when Daddy is tossing you around.

*have really taken an interest in our cat, Winston.  Whenever Winston walks by, you stop what you are doing and stare.  Once in a while you get a chance to pet him, and he tolerates for roughly forty-five seconds.

..come back.  I haven't finished ripping out all your fur.

*figured out your feet could make it into your mouth.  This new discovery has made diaper changing a little more difficult.

*we busted out your exosaucer and you. love. it.  Like pink puffy heart love it.  You also beat the ever-lovin' piss out off it, and I fear it won't survive to the next child.  There is a little tray that is removable for washing purposes, but being the think-outside-the boxer that you are, see it as a chew toy

*you had your first date with your future wife, Jenna.  This photo is going on your Save the Dates.

The biggest milestone this month is we started solid foods.  I was trying to hold off until he was officially six months, but around five months and two weeks we realized the breast milk was not enough for him.  I was nursing him nearly every hour and when we would eat, he would stare at our food and try to grab for it.  So we took the plunge and started him on rice cereal.  After ten days we moved on to oatmeal, and a week later he gobbled up carrots, squash and sweet potatoes.

Noms.
Happy 6 months baby boy!
