Farewell to Falconhead

Today is the big day:  settlement on Falconhead Cottage.  Even though we are really looking forward to moving up the property ladder, we are both a little sentimental about leaving our first home together.  Every nook and cranny of this place has a memory:

Looking at the walls, I remember the day we painted them.  JEGs woke up with BPPV and couldn't look up without feeling dizzy and nauseous.  Because of this, I had to paint most of the apartment myself!

Lots of parties, include our impromptu pumpkin carving

We've loved- and lost- two fantastic pets here; Murphy and Layla

We spent many warm evenings sitting on the front porch together.

There have been many hours of couch-snuggling.

There have also been many hours of chasing each other around the breakfast bar-- sometimes with NERF guns.

Our first Christmas tree together

Plenty of cooking successes, and failures

This is the place we came home to after we got engaged

To round out this trip down memory lane, let's take quick look back at the first time we walked through the halls two rooms of Falconhead.  JEGs took a video of that first day.

A couple things you may have noticed:
*I giggle like a chipmunk.
*My bizarre dancing. Right now my mom is asking why she spent all that money on dance lessons
*JEGs does an impressive Napoleon Dynamite
*The most annoying security system that beeps three times every time we open the doors
*Our first names. Oops.
*The usual JEGs and Lizzie bantering (including an edited section where someone gave me the finger ;)

I felt so comfortable in this apartment;  as soon as we moved the furniture in, I felt like I was 'home'.  I don't know if it was just the right place for us to be, or maybe it was because we were together, but I hadn't felt this comfortable since I lived in the house I grew up in.

Here's hoping I can find the same comfort in our new home ;)

It's like Christmas in March

Right after our wedding shower last year, JEGs and I decided that we were not going to use any of our gifts until we moved out of the apartment and into our new house.

The thinking behind this was we had everything that we basically needed to survive- plates, cups, silverware, etc- but they were all hand-me-downs from our parents and various garage sale findings.  We registered for all new stuff and we really loved the idea of having all this new stuff to still be new when we moved into our new home.

That's a lot of newness in one paragraph.  OLD.  Just to counteract all the newness.  Moving on...

In the meantime we Jenga'd that ish into the wash closet and there they have been for the past 11 months.  Until this morning when I decided to attack the closet and begin packing.

Holy hell, I forgot what we were given as gifts..

I have a punch bowl!  And a dip serving set!  And I am 95% sure that the big purple box on the right holds a new shower curtain and towels!

a can opener?  Did we even register for that?  MOTHER OF PEARL THERE IS A TOASTER TOO!

I cannot wait for moving day.  If nothing else to open and really appreciate all these "new" gifts!

Oh, and I've gotten a couple e-mails asking how packing was going...

Umm... it's going well.

And so it begins!!

So after, oh, 10 years or so on the internet, I've decided to try this whole "blogging" thing. My life has changed a lot in the past 6 months, so I thought it might be fun to jot everything down as I live through it and see how it effects me. I truely believe your experiences mold who you become- thus creating a "Lizzie in Progress". ;oD

Anyway, a few exciting things are coming up:

1.. My birthday is in about a month. I LOOOVE my birthday. It's a day where it's all about me, and I love being in the spotlight. AND JEGs gave me the go-ahead to dress up like Holly Golightly. Now I just have to figure out where I want to go... suggestions??

2.. JEGs and I are offically moving in together. Pretty impressive. We've been dating for about 8 years now, and have had a long distance relationship. We live about a hour or so apart (he outside West Chester and I in Lower Bucks County) so we've only gotten to see each other on the weekend. At first I really envied all my friends who got to spend everyday with their significant others (even if they weren't living together) but at about the 5 or 6 year mark, I just got used to the situation. The fact that I'll see JEGs on a Wednesday is bizarre to me no

So here's to a new life, and a new blog!

Always & Forever,
