Blind Date

In 1962, and 14-year-old girl named Nancy wanted to go on a date with a guy. Because she was only a freshman in high school, her parents said the only way she was allowed to go was if it was a double date. Nancy turned to her best friend, Penny, and begged her to come on the date. The guy had a friend, and it would be a casual night out. Penny agreed.

One April evening, Nancy and Penny met up with Nancy's date, and he brought along his friend Russ. Russ was older; an 18-year-old high school graduate working in the printing business. They had a fun night out together, and Nancy and her date went on a couple more dates.

Penny and Russ, however, stayed together.

The story is told that in the summer of '66, Penny and Russ were laying on the beach when Penny says to Russ, "We are getting marriend next May" to which Russ replied, "Ok".

..and so they did. On May 20, 1967, Russ made Penny his wife

Four children, 3 foster children, 2 daughters-in-law, a [soon to be] son-in-law, 4 grandchildren, and many laughs later, they are still together.

Happy 43rd Anniversary to the best parents a girl could ever have. Your marriage is one of love, respect and laughter. You have taught me how to be a good wife, partner and friend.

I love you both so much.

Always & Forever,
"The Girl"

Whoa, that Penny is one saucy broad! I'm definitely going to use her approach when I'm ready to lock it down with Mr. Right :)

Congrats to your parents. Forty-three years and still going strong...how beautiful! :)

I wish the same for you and Mr. JEGS! :)

wow, what a nice story.

It reminded me of my Mom-ster that told Dad: "I'm not waiting more than 2 years to get married" so they did...they celebrated their
50th Aniversary last year.
Congrats to your folks.
