It's The Great Pumpkin, LizzieBeth!

Saturday afternoon JEGs and I were presented with the dreaded question: What are we doing tonight?

I cannot tell you how much I hate this question- especially lately when money is tighter. We had been invited out to the city for dinner, but paying for parking, dinner and drinks really adds up quickly. JEGs had wanted to do something "fall festive" like a hayride, or a corn maze but the weather was complete crap. Then, I came up with a brilliant idea.

Pumpkin carving.

We invited a few friends over, told them it was BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) but we would provide booze and craving tools ('cause what goes better together then alcohol and sharp objects?).

It was the usual cast of characters- Bonnie and Andy, Connie and Joey, Tim and Lisa, and Mike and Lauren. We were also joined by Joey V and my friend Zacariah!

A few people brought munchies so we set them up on the breakfast bar and nibbled as we caught up on each others life events.

We snapped a couple pictures- the usual couples together, friends together, and Andy doing something strange...

..and then we got to work.

JEGs and Zac

It's a JEGs-o-lantern!

Yummy pumpkin guts...

I was proud of my little pumpy-kin!

Lauren is no joke with that scooper

Andy diligently sketches out his design

Mike's 'Left handed Eye Cock'
While everyone was scoopin' guts, Zac started collecting the seeds and decided to bake them right then and there!

He's like Betty Crocker, but not really

It was my first taste of baked pumpkin seeds and they were quite tasty!
We were all so proud of the final products, we lined them up for a photo shoot!
Lights ON:

Lights OFF:

It was such a fun night, and not bad for a last minute idea! I think we might have to make this an annual activity!
However, JEGs and I will be sure not to leave the mess for the next morning. It's no fun waking up to this:

How about you guys? Any fun "fall festive" activities you do every year? Or any fun events this weekend??

Always & Forever,
ME

What a fun/ cheap party idea! I'll have to put it on my list for next year.

It looks so fun! And good for you guys for pulling something together at the last minute. My friends require synchronization of google calendars 6 months in advance to hang out.

BTW, LOVE the pic of JEGS the next morning. He looks so lost. Oh how I've been there.

I'm all about fall activities. I actually had a fake pumpkin carving party planned this year to cover for a surprise bridal shower but maybe I'll do a real one next year. Oh and I have my dinner party, which is this weekend, so pics to come next week!

We did gingerbread apocalypse last year for winter fun. Josh pre made some gingerbread and we went to town. I'll have to find a picture to show you. My contribution was a zombie gingerbread brigade (our own little nightmare before christmas)
